This "diet" was created when I was just a kid. I remember seeing Rocky in the movie theater when it first came out. (Yeah, it's probably wasn't one of my mom's best decisions to allow a 6 year old to see that movie. More on the deep seated trauma that we suffered at the movies in future posts, I'm sure.) I don't remember most of the movie, other than a lot of fighting, some blood, and a lot of cursing.
AND THE EGGS.
I didn't understand what the heck he was doing with the eggs. (For those of you that are too young to know what I'm talking about, he cracks three eggs in a cup.....and just drinks them. I think this is the early protein drinks.) So, this sticks in my head for a few years.
At some desperate point in my life, years later, I really convince myself that this is a healthy way to lose weight. I make a date with a friend to go for a hike, and right before we leave, my strategy is to drink my egg drink instead of........you know.....real food.
I crack three eggs (and just a small amount of shell. Hey, it's fiber.) into a glass. It looks nasty. I squeeze a lime, a pinch of salt, and a shot of Tabasco. I take it up to my lips.
And hold it.
It smells like ass.
I cannot make myself drink it. I just cannot do it. The consistency makes me queasy. I dump it in the sink, and grab a chocolate donut instead.
Days on the diet: about 20 minutes.
Lbs. lost: just one dry heave.
P.S. Consumption of raw eggs is considered a dangerous practice. You'll likely get the runs. It's not worth it.
